Arman Stepanian

b. 1956 / Abadan

Arman Stepanian is a contemporary Iranian artist who was born in 1956 in Abadan, a city in the southwest of Iran. He started his artistic career as a graphic designer and participated in several biennials and exhibitions in Iran and abroad. He received special diplomas from the jury panel of the first and second Iranian Graphic Design Biennial in 1987 and 1989 respectively.
Stepanian is also a researcher on the history of Iranian photography and has published several books and articles on the subject. He has explored various mediums and techniques in his artworks, such as painting, collage, photography, and digital art. He is known for his expressive and colorful style that often incorporates elements of Iranian culture, such as calligraphy, poetry, and mythology.
Some of his notable solo and group shows include "Iranian Vision" at Electra Gallery in Paris Museum, France in 2000, "Chagal series" at Etemad Gallery in Dubai in 2012, and "Iran Inside Out" at De Paul Museum in Chicago in 2009. His works have been auctioned by several prestigious houses, such as Christie's, Sotheby's, and Bonhams. He currently lives and works in Tehran, Iran.
